Snowshoe Rabbit Foot
Snowshoe rabbit foot is one of my favorite fly tying materials, namely because it floats like a cork! Great for use as a wing on caddis, mayfly and even stonefly patterns. Because it floats so well it is great is for dry fly patterns used in a dry/dropper rig. Snowshoe rabbit foot is also a great alternative to CDC for emerger patterns. Snowshoe rabbit foot comes in many dyed colors which is great when trying to match a hatch and for different lighting conditions. Finally, it casts easily on leader only application as it has some mass but virtually no weight.
