Trip Planner
Welcome to the Fly Fishing Reporter Trip Planner!
We are currently mapping America's Best Trout Streams using Google Maps and building a fly fishing trip planning tool powered by Google Search. Our trip planning tool is unique in that it is configured to find businesses, such as fly shops, lodging, restaurants, etc. that are local to the current map view and the streams and rivers we have mapped. This way you get very targeted search results to help you plan your fishing trip.

How To Use
Can't watch the video right now? No problem, here's how to use the Fly Fishing Reporter Trip Planner:
- Launch the Fly Fishing Reporter Trip Planner (link provided below).
- Search for the river or a nearby city/state you are interested in fishing using the Google Search box located in the lower left hand corner of the map.
- Or use the map Zoom and Pan controls in the upper left hand corner of the map.
- Rivers we have mapped in your search area are marked with an icon (they should be pretty obvious).
- Click on an icon to pull up a brief description of the river and a link to the latest fishing report and current stream conditions.
- Use the Google Search box to help plan your trip.
- Some search terms that I've found helpful for planning fishing trips are airport, lodging, hotel, restaurants, fly shops, fly fishing guides, fly fishing outfitters, etc. (you get the idea).
- Once you perform a search, listings of businesses will come up and be shown on the map.
- Click on a listing to get contact information including website link, phone numbers and read customer reviews. You can even get turn-by-turn directions right to each of the business listed.
As you can imagine, mapping America's Best Trout Streams is a pretty big task. Information available on each river varies and will increase over time as we populate the map. If there is a particular river you would like us to map, let us know using the reply box below and we’ll get it on the list.

Pretty cool. I noticed you were a little sparse on Madison River info, though, so I was little disappointed…. I live in Bozeman, so that’s I why I was looking there. If you’re looking for fishing reports, I would say that http://troutfitters.com has about the most readily updated ones for the region. Hatchopedia.com also has good reports from time to time. I wouldn’t expect any good reports right now, however, as it has been below freezing for close to two weeks straight, and the ice dams are creeping in.
Thanks for the feedback. We are really just getting started so the map is a bit thin right now but we are working on it. Before I got to far I wanted to see if folks we even interested. If there are other rivers you are interested in let me know and we’ll move them up the list. The rivers in the southern Montana and the Yellowstone NP area are definitely high on the list.
