The guys at Trout Predator Online corralled Marc Petitjean at the Fly Fishing Show in Somerset New Jersey and filmed this nice demo of the Marc Petitjean MP Thread Through Bobbin. They are bit pricey but I just may have to get one of these bad boys. Enjoy the vid!

I really like the tension adjustment feature and the ease at which a dubbing loop can be formed. If I had one question it would be; Does the opening at the end of the bobbin tube snag or catch the thread like a burr during fast wrapping? If this is not an issue it looks like a handy bobbin that might be worth investing in.
Wyotyer – that’s a really good point. I did ask a few folks I know that have one of the bobbins and they said it is an issue at first but they were able to adjust and now it’s not a problem. It would be nice to try it out first before making the investment.
I would also like to try it before plunking down that kind of money. I would really like to know about lifespan with heavy volumes of tying. Who would have thought 15 or 20 years ago we might even consider a $60 bobbin?
It does seem like a lot of money for a bobbin. I have 3 boys that are just getting into fly tying so I might pass some of my bobbins on to them and get one for myself!
