The Winter Caddis Pupa from Richard Strolis on Vimeo.
Rich Strolis demonstrates how to a tie this simple foam caddis emerger pattern, the perfect winter fly.
Farmington River Dry Fly Heaven
This caddis emerger pattern is specific to the Farmington River, one of Connecticut’s premier trout streams, and imitates a wingless female caddis pupa. A tailwater fishery, the Farmington River is known for excellent year-round dry fly fishing, with Caddis hatches 6 to 8 months of the year. The winter caddis are small on the Farmington, down to size 24 but hey, small winter flies are better than no winter flies - right?
